Hello hello, welcome to my first post of 2022! We are starting the year off strong by having completed another Provincial Park in 2 seasons; summer and winter. Here is my experience at Mono Cliffs!

My friend Laura and I headed to Mono Cliffs on a Saturday afternoon. A very, very, VERY cold Saturday.
We didn’t have a trail in mind when we got there, but we certainly wanted to see the lookout. We started off by heading to the lookout via the Carriage Trail which connected us to the Spill Way trail, and we made it!

The lookout is astounding, and I prefer it in Winter when covered with bits of snow. when taking the photo of me walking into the lookout, I put my glove down and it fell off the cliff; so heads up! If you see a purple glove, please return to me. My hand froze for the rest of the adventure!

Parking at Mono Cliffs: $15.50 for a day pass, $7.25 for 4hrs.
Next up we wanted to see some water. We saw a few lakes and rivers, but there was so much snow that most of it was covered. Along the Walter Tovell trail, we found some open water.

Often either Laura or I have my son strapped to one of us (usually Laura – get you a friend who likes to carry your babies!) so it was really fun being able to run, jump, and explore freely! I think we took advantage of our time though, because we stayed outside until it was getting dark…and we froze!
Both of us were wearing two pairs of pants, layers, winter gear, and our legs and faces were freezing!

By the way, if you’re interested in solo hiking, or even if you get paranoid when you’re outside, I recommend getting a wander safely alarm. You can press the button at anytime and it sets off a light and a very loud noise to scare away any suspicious person/creature. Check out @ wander.safely on Instagram! I keep mine attached to my coat or backpack.

We ended out trip on the Cliff Top Side Trail, and it was spectacular. My winter adventure here was much more memorable than my summer adventure 2 years ago; summer was super busy because people swim, hike, and picnic here! But on a winter Saturday afternoon there was only a handful of people.

I definitely recommend taking a winter day trip to Mono Cliffs!
Until next time, keep on trekking!
