Looking to snap a photo for Instagram, or want photos for your Christmas cards next year? Iโm going to give you a list of my favourite spots in Niagara to take photos!
All of these locations are away from the crowds, do not require a permit, and have free parking!
I have lived in many different regions within Niagara and have spent a lot of time exploring. Looking back, Iโve discovered some pretty beautiful places; hidden gems and road-less-travelled areas. Why keep them to myself?
Letโs get into the good stuff!
1. La Grande Hermine

Hear me out for this! This spot has one of the best beaches for photos. Itโs great for engagement, maternity, and family photos. Itโs also great for adventure photos, since this place has a lot of very interesting history!
You donโt even need to include the replica ship in your photos. Park just beyond the Don Cherryโs restaurant in Jordan (you can put that in your GPS), walk beyond the pier and enjoy the beach area, the rocky pier, and the lake.
This boat is hard to miss from the highway, so it is very well known. But you can get up close to it from this beach area! The perfect photo op.

2. Short Hills Provincial Park
Iโve talked about Short Hills on my blog before. I love this park, and who doesnโt love free parking? This park has many different types of trees, so lots of opportunities for a great background. My favourite area is at the start of the Terrace Creek trail, youโll find rows and rows of trees!

Another great feature of this park is all of the fields! There are so many great areas for photos, itโs almost overwhelming.

3. Decew Falls
Decew Falls has a crazy amount of photo opportunities for groups of all sizes. Morningstar Mill is a beautiful red colour which looks great in photos.

You can also walk the trail to a fire pit area and take some photos in the forest.

And finally, if you head towards the trail but keep right, youโll notice a little opening to a field with a beautiful wooden fence.

4. Mel Swart Lake Gibson
Anytime there is a board walk, it is a great photo op. Mel Swart Lake Gibson has a pretty lengthy boardwalk, and it is perfect for photos. Itโs also a great place to catch the sunset.

5. Woodend Conservation
If you want to get creative, this is a great place to play around. There are a variety of rock formations that can make for some pretty sweet photos. Parking is free, too!

Because of the trees, this is a great spot to visit in all of four seasons.
