Looking for gear but it costs too much, has no reviews or can’t find what you need? I have created this guide with my very own tried and tested items that I recommend (without even being sponsored).
Hiking
Boots– these are my favourite pair that I splurged in for $100, but before that I had these which worked for 5 years ($60)
Raincoat- I love rain jackets that can fold up into a pouch because if you need it for any journey, you can easily bring it with you even with no backpack on
Toque- Everyone needs a good toque. Especially for this price
First Aid Kit- Just in case of an emergency, this is important to have
Backpacking
Backpack- Backpacks can be an investment, so make sure you do your research on what you’re putting your money into. I recommend this one (40L is cheapest; it comes in multiple sizes)
Sleeping Pad- Sleeping pads can be so important. I swear by this one for it’s price and it’s functionality
Sleeping Bag- Sleeping bags are so hard to find. You want one that is warm, yet not too thick. This is the best one I have tried
Dinner- this dinner is delicious, and you only need to add water
Lunch- I truly love bars when I am on the go
Breakfast- I simply recommend your typical package of oatmeal
Snack- I discovered this when backpacking, but now I am addicted
Camping
Tent- this is an ideal tent for 2 people, however a cheaper alternative would be this one
Cookware- this comes with everything I use and it is compact and lightweight
Camping Chair- if you’re looking for a lightweight chair, this is your best bet for the price. If you do not need lightweight, I recommend checking out your nearest Walmart/Canadian Tire.
Extras
I recommend going to your nearest dollar store and grabbing ponchos, flashlights, hand sanitizer, biodegradable toilet paper, and reusable water bottle.
