Bruce Trail, Radial Trail & Iroquois Heights in Hamilton, Ontario πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦

I woke up today and wanted to chase waterfalls. Lucky for me, Hamilton is the perfect place to do just that! Did you know that Hamilton has more than 100 waterfalls in it? It is known as the Waterfall Capital of the World.

My friend Laura and I found a trail where you park at a golf course. When we got there, the first thing we noticed was the stair case! So many people were doing laps on the staircase. We went up the stairs once to view the lookout of the city. i

The stairs weren’t part of our hike, but we had to do them. We started our hike on the Bruce Trail and followed my AllTrails App directions for a 7.2km loop. We went off the trail at two points, which made the hike 10km.

The trail starts off as a cement path that seems stroller friendly, but there are so many bikers there that I wouldn’t really recommend bringing any kids unless they are staying in the stroller the entire time. The cement path leads to gravel, bridges, and dirt paths.

This hike takes you right up beside the Lower Princess Falls, a very, very short waterfall. It also has lots of views overlooking Hamilton and the Niagara Escarpment.

It’s a great place to do speed walking, running or biking. We were one of the few who were there for a hike, but we weren’t disappointed by the trails. There are a few side trails, but we used our time to hike down to a waterfall. I am not sure of the name of this waterfall, I couldn’t find the name on any of my maps-but it is one I would recommend to people for sure. It is beautiful and you can go right up to it quite easily.

If you know the name of this waterfall, please let me know what it is!

We also went to the top of the waterfall. It was so much fun exploring every angle of it – waterfalls are just so amazing. There’s something about watching the water constantly fall that makes everything else in the world still for a moment.

After the waterfall, the loop section of the trail begins. The loop is mostly a bike path-very narrow-so it’s not the nicest to walk along, but next time I’ll take a different side trail. It did take us to a beautiful field though, it had a lot of wildflowers.

Fields from loop.

One nice feature of this trail is that it has a water station where you can fill up your water bottle. The golf course also offers food, snacks, coffee and water. It’s a pretty cute area that’s suitable for just about anyone.

Hamilton keeps surprising me trek after trek! I would rate this trail easy, however, if you go down to the [unknown] waterfall, it is challenging, especially if muddy.

This may be my last hike of the month! I am so very excited about October coming – my birthday, fall foliage and thanksgiving! So much for look forward to.

Thanks for joining me on this adventure!

Sincerely, Kate πŸ₯ΎπŸŒ²
