ok, this title is a bit much – but this was a great adventure day.

This hike took first place on my favourite hikes in Hamilton, Ontario. The main trail is part of the Bruce Trail, which is one of the best trail systems in Ontario. So, you know that you’re in for an unforgettable trek.
I started this trail at Felker‘s Falls and was pleasantly surprised by all the free parking. The trail begins on a cement path with dirt trails beside it. From the start, there are amazing woodland views with a river running at the bottom of the dropoff.

This route took us to a Bruce Trail connection, and at some points is roadside – but still offers extraordinary views. We passed a few small waterfalls, but what they lacked in size, they made up for in beauty. None of these are marked as viewing sections on the path, but they are something to stop and admire.

After the first forest, we took an old, closed-off, trail to the Red Hill Valley Trail connection. This section of the trail offers some historical information, and it took us to the loop with all of the large waterfalls and lookouts.
The loop portion of this journey starts at a pretty steep elevation; It’s the toughest part of this trail. But once up the incline, there is so much to see.
The loop starts with views of Lovers Leap – a very lovely view of Albion Falls. The next stop is at the top of Albion Falls.

From there, we walked along the gorge and this entire portion was a lookout! It was remarkable and I am making sure I come back to this trail when there is autumn foliage.
The next stop is Buttermilk Falls. I love the name of this waterfall.
the falls appear to resemble buttermilk at some times

Buttermilk Falls is now of my top favourite waterfalls in the Niagara Region. The views it has are spectacular, and I am excited to see what it looks like in the Winter season.
The next portion of the trek is along Mountain Brow Side Trail. On the left of the trail, is a road full of traffic. On the right side, a beautiful view of the gorge’s trees.

We made a steep right down to the Red Hill Valley Creek, and this creek was so breathtaking. It is surrounded by trees and has many cascades. This creek is worth the hike all in itself.

Beyond the creek we were greeted back to the end of the loop. The walk back is where we saw Felker’s Falls.

This entire trail was 10.2km and it took us 2.5hrs to complete. It is titled on the AllTrails App as “Felker’s Falls, Bruce Trail and Mountain Brow Side Trail” if you would like to find the exact route for yourself! It is great exercise and the views are not disappointing.
Thanks so much for following me along on this hike, and I can’t wait to show you what I am doing this upcoming weekend!
Sincerely, Kate 🥾🌲
